GEG Team Member Honored at the 7th Outstanding Disabled Employees Award Program
Oct 11, 2016 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) takes corporate social responsibility to the heart of its business. Recently, one of its team members, Jeff Chan, received an award at the Macau SAR government’s “7th Outstanding Disabled Employees Award Program”. Co-organized by the Social Welfare Bureau (“IAS”) and Labour Affairs Bureau (“DSAL”), the program acknowledges the outstanding work performances of people with disabilities, promotes the public’s recognition and understanding of the employability of the disabled persons, and encourages employers to provide disabled persons with employment opportunities.
Referred to GEG for employment by DSAL, Jeff Chan joined GEG in 2014 as an attendant in the Housekeeping department. His main duty is to handle the hotel’s used linens, including bed sheets and pillowcases, examine and record their wear and tear and to send the items off to the cleaning department. Although the job is physically demanding, Jeff consistently demonstrates a positive work attitude by completing his work voluntarily. In addition, Jeff shows deep ownership in his work. He has never been late for work and takes initiative in leading others to complete their tasks together. Furthermore, Jeff is very adaptive to change and shows great improvements when compared to 2 years ago.
Jeff’s outstanding performance is highly appreciated by his supervisor, Ms. Kino Chan. “Jeff is very hard working, he would actively communicate with us and provide suggestions in order to achieve a good standard of work,” said Kino. “He has a pleasant personality, and his teammates love working with him. Honesty is also one of his virtues. One time, he found a lost phone at work and he immediately handed it over to his supervisor for further handling.”
GEG is extremely proud of Jeff. In addition, GEG is also thankful to the Macau SAR government for acknowledging his hard work and contribution. GEG values diversity and believes that everyone has their own strengths. Thus, GEG will continue to provide equal job opportunities for people with disabilities, support them with their development and integration with society, and establish a more inclusive society.
